Astral Projection While Sleeping – Awakening With A Jolt!! – by Tana Hoy

If you’re like most people, you’ve probably experienced waking up with a jolt. Did you know that this happens because you’ve been doing astral projection while you sleep, and were roaming around in the astral plane? The sudden involuntary jolt occurs when your astral body returns to your physical body after flying around out there!

Astral projection

Astrally Projecting From Your Body

You may have also noticed times when, just as you’re drifting off to sleep, your arm or leg suddenly jerks? This happens because your astral body is trying to detach itself from your physical body but, for some reason, it cannot detach, and then suddenly snaps back into place.

These experiences are normal, because astral travel is a normal occurrence when you sleep.

What Is Astral Projection?

When you astral project, your astral body (an exact energy replica of your physical body) travels and explores the world, leaving your physical body behind. Your physical body has to be in a state of deep relaxation before your astral body can detach itself from it. Which is why you naturally astral project when you’re asleep.

When your astral body successfully detaches itself from your physical body, you are able to go through walls, visit faraway places in an instant, and even meet angels, spirit guides, and the souls of those who passed away.

You may not always remember the experience, because your subconscious mind takes over, but with practice, you can become fully aware while traveling in the astral world, remembering your adventures while astral projecting.

The Difference Between Astral Projecting And Dreaming

When you’re dreaming, you’re subconscious mind processes thoughts that are already in your consciousness, such as memories, desires, wishes, and repressed emotions. For example, when having a lucid dream, you’re aware that you’re dreaming, and you’re able to control what happens in your dream. But when you’re astral projecting, your consciousness actually leaves your body to goes someplace else.

If you’re wondering whether your nighttime experience was astral an astral travel, you can find the answer by thinking about the following questions:

• Do you remember floating up? Sometimes, when you astral project, you find yourself face-to-face with the ceiling, or even going through the roof.

• If you happened to look around, did you see your physical body sleeping below?

• As far as you can remember, were the objects around you functioning as they should For example, was the clock telling real time, or was the cat talking in a human language? In ordinary dreams, people, animals, and objects, show some form of behavior or actions that aren’t reality based.

• In your remembering, if you happened to walk into a room where your pet (if you have one) or someone you know was staying, did they react to your presence?

• Do you vividly remember flying? Sometimes, the sensation of flying is the only recollection you have of a nighttime experience, but this is one of the signs that you’ve astrally projected.

There are other ways to verify if you had an out-of-body experience, such as witnessing something happen that you couldn’t have known about while asleep in your room, or while in the astral realm, meeting a friend who was also astral traveling, and having a conversation that later made sense.

Going Astral: An Extraordinary Experience

Astral projecting offers an extraordinary experience, since you are able to view both the physical world and the other spiritual realms. The astral world, after all, is like a doorway between the physical world and the higher dimensions.

Because there is no time and space in the astral world (as we normally view time and space in the physical world), you are able to visit any place that you want to in an instant. Such as the Eiffel Tower in France, meeting with your spirit guides, or even talking to your deceased loved ones.

Sometimes, however, when you suddenly realize that you’re travelling outside your physical body, you become afraid or uncertain. This is when you suddenly snap back into your physical body, and you wake up with a jolt.
You can actually avoid this from happening by staying calm, and keeping your presence of mind as you travel outside of your body. It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, you will enjoy your astral travels even more.

In any case, the next time you wake up with a jolt, you know what had just happened – that you’ve been wandering about in the astral realm, exploring the world, and meeting souls and spirits!

I’ve experienced what I call hypnotic Jerks.I am a Empath and I’ve been super aware of people’s feelings/Emotions as long as I can remember.I can feel and read Energy.Ive foreseen things periodically all my life.I do have Abilities and have been trying to unlock and define what potential is present.I m aware what causes the jerks because they have happened before and do not scare me.I do not meditate everyday but the jerks started again last night as I fell asleep listening to meditation 3rd eye awakening music and beats.I was aware of why the jerks were happening while in this state. And there was a lot of them.I would jerk with a somewhat feeling of an electric shock the immediately relax only to jerk again and as I felt I was sinking into my bed into total relaxation I would jerk again. It felt like every five seconds with 3 to four jerks back to back.I realized at one point what I was seeing and wanted to wake and write down what I was seeing knowing I would forget within 30seconds of waking but I didn’t because I didn’t leave my journal by the bed last night and I knew/realized this in this state and just continued.I meditated last night and the day before because I’ve been having visions while I’m awake the last few weeks while I’m working. (This is not daydreaming)I have a sense of knowing alot of times.Im a very Humble person and do not usually message in this way.But I realize there is a reason for me finding this site and posting this.I may not understand it or maybe it will be revealed to me either way fear aside I wrote this.

I have been experiencing sudden jolts that send me into a panic. This has been going on for quite some time but lately they are getting worse. They happen every night and I fear going to sleep. They only happen within 20 minutes of falling asleep and will keep happening over an over with some being very bad where I wake up in sheer panic, heart racing so fast that I think I’m going to die. Then as I begin to wake up a bit, I realize that I will be ok but I am still shook over the experience. The only way I have found to minimize these events are if, after a particularly bad one, I wake up completely and stay awake for at least 15 minutes, usually eating something to make sure I wake up all the way.
I have talked to doctors and they have no idea what is causing this. Was told may be anxiety so I have tried anti-anxiety meds but they are not working for this. What you are talking about in this article seems to be something I have to consider, or possibly some other psychic event.

Hello! I’m 23 years old and I’ve been experiencing spiritual things since I was about 5 years old.
Growing up I’ve felt strong fields of energy negative/positive
I’ve seen spirits come through walls and shown pictures of who they may be which ended up being my great grandfather who passed before I was born.
I receive jolts every night for the past year and a cool breeze on my forehead I’ve been told many things but I’ve never meditated and I have a lack of understanding on some of this. I feel people’s pain from before I knew them which is odd help me learn! Thanks.

    Hi!
Last night I had a somewhat traumatizing moment.
I was asleep and I felt my “spirit” getting out of my body. I saw myself starting to float and my physical body was beneath me, but for me it felt like I was dying, because something was calling me and telling me to let go of my body. At first I wanted to go, but then I realized I was too young to die and I struggled and managed to return to the physical body. I even remember screaming for my mother during the “dream”. Can you help me interpret this? Was I simply dreaming or is this some kind of astral projection?
    Thanks a lot!

    • Ryan says:

It’s an Astral Projection . Relax and let go. Do not be afraid. Everything will be ok !

    • Roland says:

Hey. I have exactly that feeling 2 years before and almost every night over a year. And I was afraid, and then I relies that when I relax it has gone, I screams to my mother too. And now a few days ago that feeling is back. But this time when I screams to my mother she was beside me and hold my hand. But when I relax( the strange is I can think like when I am awake you know?)I woke up its all gone. And I was scared. It was first time since one year before>

  13. OK, I think I will record this while I have a memory of it. During my sleep last night I believe I have astral traveled.
I have never been to Australia, although I know people who live there ( school pals who emigrated there, business people I once worked for etc).
Anyway I found my self in Australia, in a town area that was not too big. I met there Sharon Gayle who was a co-owner of a business I once worked for.
‘Where are we’ I asked, ‘Naranga’ replied Sharon, ‘it is sort of central’ she said . Then after a few explorations around the place, I woke up at 05:17 just an hour and a half ago.
I decided to look this Naranga up, to see if it existed. Indeed I found a ‘Narangba’, with just the one word different. It is in Queensland, and is in the outlying area of Brisbane.
Now if it had been a big place like Sydney or Melbourne, I would have probably thought it just a very powerful dream, but it was so real, and the place being not very big at all, it was the proof to me. The whole thing had been so real.
Have you ever had anything like this happen to you?

  14. Rachel says:

    Hello
I have had a few experiences that I want opinions on. Astral projection is not new to me and I have been visiting with recently deceased loved ones since I was a child. But I have two that I still wonder about. In one I was being led by someone down a trail or pathway as they were leading me somewhere somewhat quickly while also giving me a slight tour. I believe I was on a different planet or maybe dimension. The question for this one is on the side of the path there was a color that I have never seen before and I can not describe. It shone so bright I had to shield my eyes. The person guiding me asked what was wrong and I told them I had never seen anything like that before and it was blinding. It was beautiful and my human mind can’t comprehend what it was.rhe other time I wasn’t to ask about is where I also saw myself floating over my dog that I was traumatically separated from. When doing this it was raining outside and I was in Oakland, Ca. The dog was chained outside in the rain. When she saw me floating over her she kept cowering in fear as she was seemingly awake in our everyday reality. I tried to sooth her but she was so scared I just left heartbroken. Do you have any idea why she was scared? Was it just because I was floating or did I look strangely? She didn’t recognize me.

  15. Leon Combrink says:

Hey, I astral project all the time. I can do it awake or asleep but asleep I really fly. Sometimes a have a “hard landing”. I had one more recently and realised there is an inner “lane” – your earth bound biological consciousness – and an “outer lane” where you have been……this time I was watching people with goggles watching a massive bright flash from the North…..they did not seem significantly alarmed though….so if you want to know where you have been focus on the outer “lane” . Love and Light xx

    Hi.
My name is Josh and I’m 18 nearly 19 in a months time.

I quite recently experienced something like this. I went to bed around 2.30am and all I can remember is floating up from my body slowly and just turning around slowly in a circular motion, I couldn’t move at all. However, I wasn’t looking through my own eyes I was actually looking at myself floating from my pillow where I slept. Then all of a sudden I felt and heard some whisper my name quite sharply with made me jump and I woke up. The weirdest thing was I could actually still feel the breath on my ear where someone spoke to me, but no one was there. When I woke it must have been 3 or 4.00am. Is this normal? I’ve had sleep paralyses and even the falling dream but nothing as weird as this. Maybe someone could explain and help me control this, if it ever happens again. Thank you.

  17. josh says:

If it helps my question above. I also apparently used to complain as a young child that I could see people that no one else could see, sometimes they even made me cry cause they scared me.

Hey my name is faith and I was listening to a recording of astral projection hypnosis and I thought I was asleep but this is freaky tho its like i was virbating all over and its lile I couldnt hear the voice anymore and I was frightened i thought it was a dream but it wasnt everything was a different color I didnt fly either like I tried to scream but it was like my voice was whispering and when I wanted to go what felt like back into my body I fell to the left I remember falling and what was weird is that in that state when I fell over to the left I could feel myself going back into my physical body and when I woke up I was in the same position as to when i drifted off and when i drift off to sleep I never wake back up in the same position i fell asleep in that was weird I woke up and I could hear the voice of the video from astral projection again and I was scared but also I felt like this little tug on my head it was like I was returning back I dont know but I was scared I dont know if I want to do this again. To be honest it was too vivid and too weird to be a dream im sorry but this wasnt a dream I could feel a little but of vibration still when i was aware.

I have been thinking I have been dreaming all if my life. But it started when I was 3ish I have been thinking I was dreaming of dying, traveling to far away world’s, killing alien’s, being recruited by aliens, being killed by aliens, being killed by scary behings, killing scary behind, hunting them , and being hunted, and all in while I can see myself doing these things. Is it possible to asroproject in a astro projection? How is it possible that I can see myself doing these things that are completely humanly possible. I never dream good things. I always jolt my leg before falling into what I thought was deep sleep. I always tell my self it a dream but it’s like everything gets worse when I tell them I know it is. They are like it’s not a dream and your going to die now… And I force myself awake. I jolt up quickly crying sometimes. I can wake and try to back to sleep and instantly I am back at the same place and you’d think I could change it, but I can’t. It’s the same terrible thing happening. So I jolt myself up again. You see I have been doing this my whole life and have taught myself I can wake up. But sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes I can’t find my way back. Is this dangerous? Please help me. I am so tired all of the time. I feel like when I go to sleep I am in another life instead if resting. I feel like I get no rest. I could just go to sleep if I sit in a chair. I am being tested in a month for narcolepsy because my doctors worried about my sleepiness. I don’t think they can help me.

I’m currently reading A Wrinkle in Time. For a fictional book, it’s one that I just GET. Like, it’s the reality I’ve been living my whole life. I nodded off to sleep and suddenly jerked awake. I decided to do some internet searching, as this has happened to me often. And I find this article. I’m definitely an empath, and often have an understanding of things that are hard to explain in words. I find it so serendipitous to have all of these things come together at the same time.

The first dream I can recall ever having I was maybe 4-5 years old. I can remember it like yesterday ; almost every detail . It started – Me falling through space , stars all around me , but really just looked like shinny shinny diamonds in the darkest of the night – I remember being so scared at first but the falling never stopped – But Yet I became calm and fearless & I end up in all these different places around the world that I now realize were places that exist for existence one place I remember a Beautiful waterfall , grand and crystal blue I can’t remember the other places very well parts of the dream have become vague after a while : I’m 20 now! But the end of the dream I’m in panic in an air balloon and a voice tells me I’m ok and I know what I’m doing —— Then the dream ends and I’m falling through the stars again and before I know I literally remember THUMPING my bed before I woke up ! I ran upstairs to my mother in the kitchen cooking us breakfast asking if why I woke up to being thrown down on my bed – me being 4 years old – but she said I had been asleep all night – To this day this dream really makes me question WTF is this life and world really about ? Who are we as people ? What is humanity – really – how many demonsions of ourselves is out there ??

I had an experience of what felt like astral travel last night. It did not feel like a dream. I felt translucent and I traveled to where my daughter lives in Chicago and the flew all around the city at night, checking out things. I remember feeling translucent. I have never felt this in a dream, the dreams feel grounded and more of mental picture show then this other experience I had.

  24. Ken says:

Look, for a while, actually a long while when I go to bed…ONLY when I go to bed. About 30-60 minutes I am a sleep. But, it is like I go from awake to where my body feels heavy and I feel like I am falling through my bed. It wakes me up and I am sweating. Look, I was an alcoholic for a long time, so I thought that is what it was. But, I started a clean life, meditating every morning, working out every day….it started again. I go to bed and after 30-60 minutes I still get that falling feeling, but I hear words…like I left the tv on in the other room. I fall, then wake up. I don’t float, or go anywhere. I do not see anything. Last night was the first time I actually let myself go. I didn’t fight the falling…I just went with it. I told my mind it was ok. But, I never SEE anything, and I always am falling, not floating, or flying, or seeing. Only falling and hearing…but the words are never clear. Also, this will sound weird. My body turns in bed…I don’t in this space. I only hear words I don’t hear anything if I am laying on the right side of the body. But, if I turn to the left I hear people…a lot of people talking, but I dont know the their words.

  25. Josh says:

Over the last few months about 70% of the time I fall asleep I keep having what I thought was recurring dreams of me waking up and then realizing I was still asleep and when looking back at my sleeping self in the dream would feel as I would describe me being forced back into my body but would still be asleep and this will continue a few times over every time it happens until I finally actually wake up. It honestly has been freaking me out. I am not a spiritual person for the most part. Today was different experience for me though. When I originally fell asleep and this happened again and I awoke I tried something different and sat up on the couch and fell back asleep, once again I was aware that I was asleep and left my body and looked back and was competent aware of what I was doing and did not get sucked back into my body and began to move about my house. I have a couple questions though because i chose to stop because I began to get scared about a couple things. My first question is wether or not it is normal for everything to appear to be a Smokey grayish color and secondly it seemed the further away I moved In my house away from my body the darker everything became so it scared me and I consciously forced myself to wake up. Are those normal occurances during something like this?

  26. Jme says:

Sometimes when I sleep I go to a very specific place. It feels like a far away home to me. It’s by the ocean but it’s always like a purpley night outside. I know all the pathways even the streets. It’s so beautiful there and it brings me an immense state of calm. One time I tried taking my dog there. When I awoke or arrived in this far away land I had my puppy on a leash walking by my side. I was telling her how excited I was to bring her and show her this beautiful place. Was telling her how much she would just absolutely love when she sees the water. As I walked further towards the water in the sand I realized I was dragging my puppy. She was laying completely lifeless. I bent down by her horrified trying to revive her. I couldn’t understand. It was as if she were simply a shell no life inside of her. I was crying and yelling for someone to help… all the other people on the beach and around me were staring at me as if they were confused. I was crying out and I had this feeling like I had killed her by bringing her there. I got the feeling like either she wasn’t supposed to go there with me or that I wasn’t allowed to take her there. Do you know what this means?

  27. Sharon says:

I had something happening to me while Icwas waking up this morning. I had the sensation of when you jump in very deep water and you’re holding you’re breath as you come up to the shallow feeling.. that noise you hear while you’re hold you’re breath in the water. And then kind like a Big Bang to my body with a sharp pain , in my chest on awaking.

The jolt blew my mind I must say. Ive started keeping a diary of the astral projections, any suggestions>
