How Your Diet Affects Your Psychic Receptivity
Once, during a psychic reading session with one of my clients, a question came up regarding food. Was it true that certain kinds of food can either decrease or increase a person’s psychic receptivity and psychic energy level?
Yes! Various types of food and drinks can affect your spirituality.
Aside from meditating and praying every day, adjusting or completely changing your diet can also have an impact on your psychic receptivity and psychic energy level.
What is the Spiritual Side of Diet?
Krishna, one of the most important divinities in the Hindu religion, spoke about the connection between food and spirituality.T his was recorded in the 5,000 year old Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita:
“Foods which promote life, vitality, strength, health, happiness, and satisfaction; which are succulent, juicy, nourishing, and pleasing to the heart are dear to one in goodness. Foods which are very bitter, very salty, very sour, very hot, very pungent, very dry, and burning, causing unhappiness, misery, and disease, are palatable by one in passion. That food which is stale, tasteless, putrid, decomposed, foul, and impure as well as the leavings of others is dear to one in nescience.”
Nescience refers to spiritual ignorance, or the failure to attain some levels of spiritual enlightenment.
As stated in the Bhagavad Gita, food that is tasty can increase your vitality and make your mind clear. These are what you need to eat in your diet to increase your psychic energy level.
In Sanskrit, such kinds of food are called, sattvaguna (pronounced as sattwagoona), or food that is pure, and therefore good for the spirit, mind, and body.
Swami Nirmalanda Giri of the Light of the Spirit Monastery in Cedar Crest, New Mexico explained why these foods are the best: they increase the amount of spiritual light in the mind, body, and soul, of those who consume these kinds of food.
“It is [sattwa] food that lightens and promotes health of body and mind, food that is actually spiritual in its effect. This is purely vegetarian food, free of both animal and chemical elements. It is fresh raw food which has all its natural enzymes intact, and moderately cooked food, as well,”explains Giri.
Green and leafy vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, and root crops, such as potato and beets, are sattwaguna. Thus, they are the recommended food for people who are deep into spiritual and psychic practice.
Meanwhile, dairy products like milk, butter, ghee (clarified butter), and similar food products are also said to be safe to consume for developing psychic receptivity, because they leave no trace of negative energy in your body.
However, there are some debates regarding drinking milk and eating dairy products since they are said to cause certain diseases and can aggravate some health conditions. So, get professional medical opinion about your diet, particularly if you already have an existing health condition.
Beware of Food Obtained Through Violence
On the other hand, food obtained through acts of violence, such as all kinds of meat, fish, and poultry (including eggs), must be avoided to prevent Karma and to increase your psychic awareness, psychic receptivity, and psychic energy level.
Spiritually speaking, the violence applied to prepare meat (slaughtering of the animal), and the struggle for life of the fish and other seafood products as they were taken out of the water, leave a negative energy imprint in their flesh.
When you consume them, you are also absorbing these negative energies, hence affecting your own energy levels.
Eggs, on the other hand, are actually “beings-in-transition,” meaning that when they are hatched, they become another living being.
Using this logic, when you eat eggs, you are actually preventing these poor beings to see and enjoy life as chicks or ducklings. When you do this, then you’re also gathering negative Karma.
Other Substances to Avoid
Consuming food and drinks that contain lots of preservatives, high sugar, and high caffeine levels can also affect your psychic receptivity.
Drugs, smoking, and alcohol abuse can also decrease your psychic energy level, since these substances affect the way you think and the way you do things.
Eating for Spirituality and Health
Most people in the spiritual and psychic communities are now vegans (eating only vegetables, fruits, and other plant-based food), or vegetarians (still consuming some dairy products).
Some even advocate a raw vegan diet, consisting mostly of fruits, raw salads, and vegetable smoothies.
Coco fast or drinking young coconut juice for seven days or more, without any solid food, can also increase your body’s vitality, as it cleanses your system from the toxins that you have absorbed by eating unhealthy food.
A clean and lean diet makes you spiritually fit. It can also make you strong and healthy, as well.
Nonetheless, your diet should depend on what your body needs.
There are some people who are unable to thrive on a purely vegetable diet. They need to eat meat from time to time.
