Understanding Psychic Abilities: are Remote Viewing and Clairvoyance the Same?
Psychic abilities are often misunderstood, and among the most misunderstood is the relationship between clairvoyance and remote viewing.
Although the process of remote viewing is not complicated, there are those who have tried to turn this psychic ability into a mysterious and hard to understand gift. This causes many people to believe that it is impossible for them to do remote viewing.
If everyone knew how to view remotely, solutions to problems could be more easily achieved, there would be fewer conflicts due to misunderstandings, and most important of all, fear of the unknown would be lessened, if not eliminated.
Why do I believe such things can happen? It’s because remote viewing is one of the psychic abilities I feel much at home with; I understand and practice it, and I’d like to help you to understand it more too!
What is Remote Viewing?
At its most basic, remote viewing is the psychic ability to go beyond the restrictions imposed on you by space and time. Through remote viewing, you are able to “see” people, events, and places, regardless of the place and time.
This means that you can see the past, as easily as you can see the present, and the future.
Good psychics are able to maximize their practice of remote viewing by taking down notes of the impressions that they get, and analyzing these impressions after.
Is Clairvoyance the Same as Remote Viewing?
Some have defined remote viewing to be the same as clairvoyance. However, although they share certain characteristics, clairvoyance is not exactly the same as remote viewing.
Clairvoyance literally means “clear seeing.” It is the ability to “see” psychic visions concerning the past, present, or future.
Someone who is clairvoyant works with what is known as the Third Eye.
The Third Eye is an energy center in the middle of the forehead, and it’s what a psychic accesses to have clairvoyant visions.
Since clairvoyance is a heightened psychic perception, it allows the psychic to see these visions with the kind of clarity that is not possible for others who do not possess this special gift.
In one of my earlier articles, I discussed how “the Third Eye is the center of clairvoyant sight.
It is the primary organ through which the energy within your body can be awakened and governed. It is also the cosmic sender and receiver of multi-dimensional information. So if I had to give you an example, you could imagine the Third Eye to be a light switch, which powers on your ability to activate your spiritual vision, and gain access to higher levels of consciousness.”
Remote Viewers do not necessarily have to have a naturally open Third Eye, as it is possible in a controlled laboratory setting, or as part of a scientific experiment, to induce or bring about a session of remote viewing.
This means that there are two kinds of remote viewing:
- that which comes naturally as part of being clairvoyant, and,
- that which is induced or brought about by scientific involvement
The site Crystal Links gives some additional insights about remote viewing: Remote viewing (RV) is a procedure developed by parapsychologists at the Stanford Research Institute to allegedly perform clairvoyance under controlled conditions. Somewhat similar to astral projection, the phenomenon involves a belief in the projection of consciousness to remote locations, and is considered a pseudoscience by mainstream scientists.
Remote viewing (RV) is a form of clairvoyance by which a viewer is said to use his or her clairvoyant abilities to “view”, i.e. gather information on a Target consisting of an object, place, person, etc., which is hidden from physical view of the viewer and typically separated from the viewer in space by some distance, and sometimes separated in time (future or past) as well.
Remote Viewing is distinguished from other forms of clairvoyance in that it follows a specific experimental ‘protocol ‘(or some variant of it). The critical aspect common to these protocols, proponents contend, is that the viewer is ‘blind ‘to the target in the sense of being given no (or negligible) information regarding the target being viewed.
Meanwhile, the International Remote Viewing Association (IRVA) provides the following important distinctions regarding natural remote viewing:
Remote viewing is a mental faculty that allows a perceiver (a “viewer”) to describe or give details about a target that is inaccessible to normal senses due to distance, time, or shielding. For example, a viewer might be asked to describe a location on the other side of the world, which he or she has never visited; or a viewer might describe an event that happened long ago; or describe an object sealed in a container or locked in a room; or perhaps even describe a person or an activity; all without being told anything about the target — not even its name or designation.
From this explanation, it is obvious that remote viewing is related to so-called psi (also known as “psychic” or “parapsychological”) phenomena such as clairvoyance or telepathy. Whatever it is that seems to make it possible for human beings to do remote viewing is probably the same underlying ability that makes such things as clairvoyance work.
Remote Viewing as a Powerful Tool
Even with the existence of people who don’t believe in it, remote viewing was one of the more popularly explored tools by other people and organizations capable of influencing the outcome of the future.
As reported by IRVA,“In 1978 the US Army created a unit to use RV operationally in collecting intelligence against foreign adversaries. This program continued under Army sponsorship until 1986, when the operational and research arms of the government remote viewing program were combined under the leadership of DIA. In about 1991 DIA renamed the program “Star Gate.”
Although remote viewing was eventually decided to have no value for intelligence collection, it remains a powerful tool for understanding the past, the present, and the future, as well as a psychic tool for piercing the veil that clouds our understanding of reality.
As explained by Enchanted Mind, “The greatest obstacle in learning to use your latent psychic abilities is a dependency on your five senses. One way to prove this is to sit with some optical illusions or auditory illusions for a short time, and you will be convinced that your senses can be very deceptive. Thus, if they are not giving you a totally accurate, but merely approximate, view of the world, perhaps they should not be totally relied upon as the only basis for discerning reality.
The ability to intuit extrasensory information has long been labeled a sixth sense… You first need to reach beyond your preconceptions, disbelief and assumption that ESP is impossible. Once you have trained the mind to relax, these deeper levels of mind are readily discernible.”
