Fairies In My Garden!

The fairies are back!

Today I went outside, and I was amazed by all the activity in my garden. I counted what seemed like more than 50 little leprechauns running around among the plants!

I got a late start setting up my fairy garden this year, but once I finally prepared it, the activity seemed to begin almost immediately. Since then, my garden has felt alive with fairy energy, and I absolutely love having that magical feeling around my home.

Fairy folklore and spiritual traditions have long associated fairies, elves, and nature spirits with gardens, flowers, herbs, trees, and places where nature is cared for and appreciated. Certain plants are especially believed to make a garden more welcoming to them.

Did you know that:

• Fairies are traditionally associated with roses, lilacs, tulips, rosemary, mint, and delphiniums. Planting these around your home can help create the kind of natural environment they are believed to enjoy.

• They are also said to enjoy small sweet treats, especially cookies. I sometimes leave chocolate chip cookies outside in my garden as a little offering.

• According to fairy traditions, fairies and elves may make their homes among flowers, herbs, bushes, old trees, and other protected areas of a garden.

• Music matters, too. Singing happy songs, playing gentle music, laughing, and bringing joyful energy into your garden are all traditional ways of making the space feel more inviting.

• Fairies are often believed to be easiest to notice through your peripheral vision. You may think you saw a tiny movement, flash of light, or something dart past you out of the corner of your eye, only to find nothing there when you look directly at it.

• Small unexplained openings in the ground, unusual spaces around tree roots, and holes in old tree trunks have sometimes been described in folklore as fairy doors or portals, places where nature spirits move between their realm and ours.

You don’t need a large garden to create a welcoming space for fairy energy. Even a few plants, flowers, a small fairy house, natural stones, a little bowl of water, or a quiet corner dedicated to nature can completely change the feeling of an area.

Would you like to invite fairies into your own home or garden?

I’ll show you some simple ways to create a welcoming space, what you can leave as offerings, which plants to use, and some of the signs that may indicate fairy activity around you.

Most importantly, approach it with happiness, respect, and a genuine appreciation for nature. In many traditions, fairies are believed to be especially drawn to places that feel peaceful, joyful, cared for, and alive.
