Spiritual Grounding: An Essential Practice To Inner Peace
Grounding is when you balance your physical and spiritual energy by reconnecting to the Earth. It means that you are completely present in this moment, on the physical plane and you are balanced, mindful, and at peace in the here and now.
Why Is Grounding Important?
In life, you tend to pick up negative energy that can cause your energy to become off-kilter and ungrounded.
Being ungrounded can also have an effect on your spiritual connection, especially if you give a lot of your time to the spiritual side of your life. Spiritual Grounding is even a part of some spiritual practices, particularly the ones where you reach for the higher realms. However, after these spiritual practices, it’s extremely important to ground yourself back to Earth.
Remember, you want to cultivate your spiritual self, but you also still want to remain connected to your physical body and the physical world! The goal is to achieve a beautiful harmony between the spiritual and physical.
Spiritual grounding lets you plant your energy back into your physical body, so that you are more safe, stable, and in control of your thoughts and emotions. With a regular grounding practice, you can shed any negative energy you pick up and feel more in touch with your life on Earth.
It is a common practice for psychics and people who frequently communicate with the spirit world to engage in spiritual grounding after their work, but it’s just as important for regular people to start a regular spiritual grounding exercise, too.
Are You In A State Of Being Ungrounded?
Every once in a while, check in with yourself to see if you are ungrounded, especially if you haven’t been engaging in spiritual practices recently. After all, you may have been absorbing energy from the people around you, which can strongly affect your energy field.
There are physical symptoms of being ungrounded, such as constant dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling as if you are floating on air. If you are ungrounded, you will also feel tired and drained all the time, without the energy to even enjoy the things you usually like doing.
It’s also quite common for you to be sensitive to light and sound, as well as feeling overstimulated by the people and events around you. Since you aren’t grounded to Earth, all the physical sensations will hit you hard and you will find it difficult to adjust.
In this state, you’ll find it difficult to focus on the world around you, so you’ll tend to space out during conversations, forget appointments, misplace objects, and generally display a state of absentmindedness. You will become exceptionally clumsy and find yourself getting lost, even in your own neighborhood.
Instead of being present, you will daydream all the time and even slip into having out-of-body experiences unintentionally.
Do any of these things line up to your everyday experiences?
As you can see, being ungrounded can have disastrous effects on your life, so it may be time for you to start grounding yourself regularly.
Various Ways To Ground Yourself
If you feel that you are getting unbalanced, one of the ways you can ground yourself is to engage in physical activity.
It could be something as simple as a walk or doing a couple of push-ups and sit-ups, but exercise is really one of the most effective ways to ground your energy back into your body because it focuses and connects with your physical body when you work out. Exercise also lets you burn off excess energy, including any negative energy lingering in your aura and chakras.
If you have the opportunity, yoga is particularly good in spiritual grounding, since the poses and flows of movement actually work to balance your mind, body, and spirit.
Another physical activity that’s been shown to have great grounding effects is being intimate with your partner since it not only brings you back into your body and the present moment, but it also releases plenty of endorphins.
Eating is also a good way to ground yourself, since it acts as a reminder that you have a physical body with needs and wants. Digesting food also draws the energy away from your higher vibrational chakras, like the crown and third eye.
The type of food you eat can help with the process as well! Root vegetables are wonderful grounding foods, since these come from beneath the Earth and nurture your connection with the soil and the physical world.
At home, you can also indulge in a relaxing salt bath to ground yourself after your regular energy work. Salt and water are both known for their healing and cleansing properties, so if you want to clear your aura from negativity, this is an excellent way to do so.
Whether you use sea salt or Himalayan salt, let yourself relax and enjoy the warm bath for about 30 to 45 minutes. Some people even add essential oils to their baths, which can help with your intention to ground yourself.
If you don’t have a bathtub for long soaks, you can also use a salt-based scrub on your body during your daily shower, instead. While it’s probably less relaxing to you, it’s just as effective in grounding and cleansing yourself.
Last but not the least, a good grounding exercise is to step outside, kick off your shoes, and walk barefoot on the ground. This practice literally and figuratively grounds you to Mother Earth, letting you feel your incredible connection to the physical world.
Spending time in the midst of nature is very important in grounding yourself in physical reality. Try gardening, not just to create a pretty space in your yard, but also to feel the dirt and the soil with your hands and be at one with the Earth.
Making sure you are grounded is quite easy, so take the time to incorporate it into your daily life and reap the benefits of a balanced spiritual and physical energy field. Enjoy your grounding!
